Recalls from three manufacturers
Ryobi recalls more than 200,000 mowers in U.S. and Canada
On Feb. 6, Ryobi announced a recall of its 40-Volt 21-in. cordless walk-behind mowers. It advised consumers to immediately stop using the recalled mower and contact TTI Outdoor Power Equipment Inc. for instructions on how to disable the recalled mower and receive a free replacement 21-in. walk-behind mower.
The recalled mowers have a push-on connector inside the powerhead that can overheat, posing a fire hazard. These mowers were sold at Home Depot and Direct Tools Factory Outlet stores nationwide and online between February 2021 and January 2025 for between $500 and $700.
TTI has received 97 reports of overheating while the mower was in use, including five reports of fires. Two minor burn injuries have been reported.
Bobcat recalls more than 500 mower deck attachments.
Bobcat announced a recall on Feb. 6, of Bobcat & Steiner AirFX Finish Mower Deck attachments. The all black devices are labeled with “AirFX” and either “72” or “61” depending on the mower deck model.
The recall said that consumers should immediately inspect and determine whether locking pins can be inserted while the deck is in the upright or tilted position during maintenance or service. Contact Doosan Bobcat North America or a Bobcat dealer to obtain a free repair, which will be available in the near future. Until then, if the locking pins cannot be inserted, obtain two straps, each rated for 1,500 lbs., and wrap a strap around each front tractor axle, securing each strap to the mower deck when performing service or maintenance. Consumers should contact Doosan if they are unable to obtain straps, and straps will be provided at no cost to the consumer. Doosan Bobcat North America is contacting all known purchasers.
These attachments were sold at Bobcat and Steiner dealers nationwide from April 2023 through September 2024 for between $5,200 and $5,500.
Ariens recalls more than 7,000 snowblowers in the U.S. and Canada
On Feb. 6, Ariens announced it is recalling certain Deluxe, Platinum, and Professional snowblowers due to an impeller and auger assembly that can continue rotating even after the operator control lever is released. Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled snow throwers and contact Ariens Company or an authorized dealer for a free repair at their local dealership. The dealer locator is available at here.
Ariens Company and its authorized dealers will confirm whether a unit has already been inspected and/or repaired and will perform all necessary repairs on affected units. The affected machines were sold at authorized Ariens dealers nationwide, Ace Hardware, Blain’s Farm & Fleet, Do It Best, Family Farm & Home, Mills Fleet Farm, Northern Tool and Equipment, Lowe’s and True Value and online between August 2024 through October 2024 for between $1,770 and $5,440.
