Wacker Neuson confirms takeover talks

Wacker Neuson SE has confirmed that it is in advanced discussions with Doosan Bobcat Inc. regarding a potential takeover, according to a release.

The German construction equipment maker confirmed recent media reports, stating its Executive Board is discussing the possible acquisition of a majority stake in Wacker Neuson by Doosan Bobcat, as well as a subsequent public takeover offer.

Doosan Bobcat is reportedly considering acquiring approximately 63% of Wacker Neuson’s share capital from major shareholders. Following this, Doosan Bobcat intends to launch an all-cash public takeover offer to all remaining Wacker Neuson shareholders.

Wacker Neuson cautioned that it could not currently predict whether the share sale by major shareholders or the public takeover offer will actually occur. The company stated it would inform the capital markets and the public of any further developments in accordance with legal requirements.

Wacker Neuson, headquartered in Munich, produces compact excavators, wheel loaders, dumpers and a broad range of light construction equipment. A takeover would give Doosan Bobcat a deeper foothold in Europe and expand its compact machinery lineup, but any deal would require antitrust clearance in the European Union and other markets. No binding agreement has been signed, and both companies noted that discussions may not result in a transaction.
