Caterpillar highlights AI, autonomy and fleet connectivity technologies
Caterpillar Inc. highlighted advancements in artificial intelligence, autonomy, connected fleet technology and customer service programs during CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2026.
The company presented a range of technologies and programs designed to support productivity, safety and equipment management across construction jobsites.
“As jobsites become more complex, we’re rapidly innovating to simplify how our customers operate and grow — at any scale,” said Caterpillar CEO Joe Creed. “This week, we’re demonstrating how a single platform connects the entire operation — empowering customers with AI and autonomy, redefining service and investing in the people doing the work every day.”
AI and connected fleet management
Among the technologies highlighted was the Cat AI Assistant, which allows users to interact with equipment and digital tools to access information, recommendations and operational insights.
Caterpillar also highlighted its collaboration with Geotab Inc. to integrate on-highway fleet data into its VisionLink platform. The system allows equipment owners to manage mixed fleets through a single platform that provides insights intended to improve uptime, productivity, safety and compliance.
Autonomy developments were also demonstrated, including the Cat CS12 autonomous soil compactor and Collision Mitigation technology from the Cat Detect safety portfolio. Demonstrations also included remote operation technologies designed to support construction autonomy.
Compact equipment and rental services
The company also introduced Cat Compact, which focuses on simplifying equipment purchasing, rental and service support for compact equipment customers.
Updates to the Cat Rentals program were also highlighted, including digital tools designed to help customers locate, manage and monitor rental equipment.
Power systems and engines
Caterpillar also showcased new power systems, including high-horsepower C3.6 and C13D engines designed for construction equipment applications.
The engines were presented alongside aftermarket offerings such as condition monitoring services, connectivity tools and parts programs intended to help customers maintain uptime and extend equipment performance.
Operator and technician competitions
Caterpillar also hosted competitions recognizing equipment operators and technicians. Nine finalists from around the world competed in the Global Operator Challenge Finals.
Following the operator competition, the company also held its inaugural Global Dealer Technician Challenge to recognize dealer service technicians.
“Caterpillar is focused on the challenges customers are dealing with right now: labor, safety and productivity,” said Caterpillar Construction Industries Group President Rod Shurman. “From AI and autonomy in action to full-fleet connectivity to services commitments, everything we’re showing is built to work where and when customers need it most whether it’s on the job, in the shop or at the office.”
