Makita releases new 24-inch hedge trimmer, high-speed blower/inflator

Makita U.S.A. has released its new 18V LXT Lithium‑Ion Cordless 24-inch Hedge Trimmer (model XHU10).

The new hedge trimmer features a Makita-built motor that delivers 2,700 SPM for faster cutting speed when set on the high-speed option. It has the power to cut thick branches 3/5-in. in diameter. The 24-inch dual-action, double-sided steel blade offers optimal performance.

Boasting a compact and ergonomic design at only 40.5-inches long, the hedge trimmer also features a rubberized soft grip designed to provide increased comfort. Weighing in at just 5.38 pounds (6.78 pounds with battery), the new hedge trimmer weighs up to 30-percent less than a comparable gas model, reports Makita.

Available as tool only or in kit form (18V LXT 4.0Ah battery and charger included with kit). The XHU10SM1 Kit delivers up to 100 minutes of run time with the 18V LXT 4.0Ah battery.

In addition, Makita has released its new 18V LXT High Speed Blower/Inflator, Tool Only (XSA01Z), also part of the company’s LXT System.

“The High-Speed Blower/Inflator is a versatile tool that can effortlessly clear debris as well as inflate or deflate objects with precision,” says Tyler Brown, associate product manager for lifestyle and expansion, Makita U.S.A. “This remarkable tool is the missing piece you never knew your tool collection needed as it fits in with the over 325 tools that make up the 18V | 36V LXT system.”

The new Blower/Inflator can both inflate and deflate with precision, as well as clear debris and dust from work surfaces and tools. It features a Makita-built brushless motor that delivers up to 447 MPH and 39 CFM. With five included nozzles and four digitally controlled speeds, the Blower/Inflator has a wide range of applications. It provides continuous operation of up to 55 minutes with a fully charged 18V LXT 6.0Ah battery (battery not included).

Other features include:

  • A rubberized soft grip for increased comfort on the job;
  • A compact design, ideal for working in tight spaces with an overall length of just 7 inches;
  • An in-line fan design that provides better tool balance and improved ergonomics; and
  • A filter on the blower intake to reduces dust being blown through the blower.
