Kress introduces EyePilot autonomous commercial mower line
Kress has introduced the EyePilot autonomous commercial mower line, available in two-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive models.
The company said the mower combines Vision AI technology, real-time kinematic (RTK) positioning and AI-powered V-SLAM navigation to operate without boundary wires, on-property antennas or magnetic strips. According to Kress, the system is designed for multi-zone lawn maintenance and navigation in complex commercial landscapes.
The EyePilot line is designed to automatically map properties and navigate around contours, edges and obstacles using a neural network trained with more than 20 million parameters. The system processes up to 10 images per second to maintain navigation in areas with limited or no RTK signal, according to the company.
The standard EyePilot models use rear-wheel drive, while the EyePilot 4×4 models feature four-wheel drive and are designed to mow slopes up to 40 degrees. The 4×4 models also include Kress’ TurfSteer technology, which is intended to improve maneuverability in tight or complex layouts.
“EyePilot combines Kress’ RTK network with vision technology and AI-powered V-SLAM navigation to give users the gold standard in autonomous mowing,” said Todd Zimmerman, senior vice president of Kress dealer sales, operations and product. “With advanced technology, EyePilot can be used in areas where other mowers have difficulty and with nearly endless customization to deliver the most precise and efficient cuts.”
The company said EyePilot can automatically map properties or be used with the Kress mapping cart for multi-zone operation. The mower is available with cutting widths of 8.7 or 9.4 inches and a mowing speed of up to 2 feet per second. A 10-amp charger provides increased charging capacity compared with previous models, according to Kress.
Kress said the mower uses an onboard processor to optimize mowing routes over time. The EyePilot 4×4 also features an articulating body design for operation on uneven terrain. The company said the mower includes a 100-watt cutting motor and a cutting algorithm that adjusts blade speed and drive speed based on mowing conditions.
