Toro Announces “Name It & Claim It” Contest for New Stand-on Mower
As The Toro Company puts the finishing touches on its new stand-on mower set for release this fall, there’s one key component that’s still missing – the mower’s name. That’s why the company is announcing its “Name It & Claim It” competition, which provides landscape contractors within the United States the opportunity to win the mower in exchange for submitting the ideal name.
“Since the project’s inception, we’ve been focused on delivering everything landscape professionals have been asking for in a stand-on mower, including Toro’s legendary performance and durability — plus a smooth, comfortable ride,” explained Edric Funk, marketing manager for Toro’s Landscape Contractor Equipment line. “Now we’d like our customers to help with the final step — delivering the product’s name!”
By visiting the mower’s Web site (www.toro.com/nameit) between its debut May 12, 2008 and June 15, 2008, viewers will be able to try their hand at naming Toro’s latest innovation, which caters to landscape contractors who seek a compact, maneuverable stand-on mower that delivers a superior quality of cut while minimizing operator fatigue through exceptional handling, enhanced operator comfort, and ease of use. Mail-in entries postmarked by June 15, 2008 and labeled “Name It & Claim It Contest” will be accepted at the company’s headquarters: The Toro Company, LCB Marketing Dept. 8111 Lyndale Ave. So., Bloomington, MN 55420.
In successive months, Web site visitors will be able to vote for their favorite choice(s) from among those submitted and learn the winning name when it’s revealed in August. Only one name will be chosen from among the entries; there is no limit to the number of ideas an individual may submit. One lucky landscape contractor will win one of the first stand-on mowers to roll off Toro’s production line.
Viewers who visit the site regularly will have a chance to see weekly unveilings of the features and advantages of the new stand-on mower. According to Funk, Toro engineers have taken into account all of the traditional elements of a stand-on mower in creating the new design, looking to capitalize on the attributes of the best-performing machines on the market today, while overcoming their current shortcomings. “We know what landscape contractors like and don’t like about stand-on mowers, and we’re confident we’ve created a product that will take the category to a new level. We just need a name for it!”
