Perfect weather greets STMA 20th Annual Conference

San Jose, CA–The 20th annual Sports Turf Managers Conference and Exhibition currently is going at full speed and attendees are flocking to the education sessions and trade show.

Highlights of the Conference so far include the official rollout of STMA’s Playing Conditions Index (PCI) and the 2nd edition of A Guide to Synthetic and Natural Turfgrass for Sports Fields.

This afternoon there will be a logo painting demonstration on the trade show floor, and vendors will be introducing the most innovative new products for the sports turf management market, including new machines from Kromer, Jacobsen, Toro, and many more manufacturers, keeping with the show’s theme of “Technology & Innovation” here in Silicon Valley.

Pioneer Athletics also announced today that its high-performing Brite Stripe Ultra-Friendly has been recognized by the Environmental Protection Agency with the first-ever “Design for the Environment” designation for field-marking paint.

Presentations included “The Replacement Process of a Synthetic Field,” by Debra Kneeshaw of Portland (OR) Parks, and “Are You an Eagle or a Buzzard? Remember, they both soar,” by Jeff Fowler of Penn State extension. Both presentations were made in front of overflow audiences.

The new STMA Board was introduced earlier today at the Annual Meeting, including incoming president Abby McNeal, CSFM, and president-elect Chris Calcaterra, CSFM.

Look for a full recap here on January 19.
