Deere and Ego partner on new ZTR mower with removable 56V batteries
In a partnership with Ego, John Deere introduced its first zero-turn radius mower to feature removable batteries. Deere said it developed the new Z370RS Electric ZTrak Mower in collaboration with Ego and its 56V ARC Lithium removable battery system. The same 56V removable batteries can also be used in other Ego products, such as string trimmers, leaf blowers and more.
“With this new offering, homeowners can tackle yard work more easily and efficiently,” said Eric Halfman, go-to-market manager for riding lawn equipment at John Deere. “By integrating removable battery technology, we are simplifying DIY lawn care by reducing the need for multiple tools and power sources. Now, customers can use the same battery across their mower and other compatible tools, making outdoor maintenance more convenient and streamlined.”
2023 agreement
In 2023, Deere and Ego launched an agreement that allow John Deere dealers to sell Ego power equipment products. At the time, Ego said, “this collaboration leverages the strengths of both companies and further expands the distribution of Ego’s award-winning line of battery-operated OPE through John Deere’s prestigious and robust dealer network.” As part of that agreement, Deere retailers in the United States and Canada could carry Ego mowers, blowers, trimmers, edgers, chainsaws, and snow blowers.
Regarding this new mower, Deere said it features a 42-inch AccelDeep Mower Deck and delivers best-in-class cut quality and speed, offering no compromises when compared to gas-powered mowers. Additionally, said a Deere news release, the battery-powered engine ensures quiet operation, reduced maintenance and zero emissions during use.
For added convenience, the Z370RS Electric features a color display that provides real-time monitoring of each battery’s charge level. It also includes Bluetooth connectivity, allowing users to track the mower’s charging status, battery level and maintenance requirements remotely through the Equipment Mobile application. Lastly, the Z370RS Electric boasts a five-year battery warranty and a three-year or 200-hour bumper-to-bumper warranty backed by the nationwide John Deere dealer network.
