Eddie Money, The Grass Roots to headline free concerts at GIE+EXPO 2009
The Green Industry and Equipment Expo 2009 (GIE+EXPO 2009) recently announced the return of Rocktober with headliners Eddie Money and The Grass Roots, as well as The Blues Brothers and The Briggs Bluesbusters, playing free concerts at 4th Street Live! in downtown Louisville Thursday, Oct. 29, and Friday, Oct. 30. The concerts will be sponsored by Briggs & Stratton Corporation on Thursday, and Ariens Company and Stens on Friday.
On Thursday, ’80s sensation Eddie Money will take the stage at 8 p.m., and the platinum-selling artist is sure to rock 4th Street with hits like “Baby Hold On,” “Two Tickets to Paradise,” “Shakin’,” “Think I’m in Love,” “I Wanna Go Back,” and “Take Me Home Tonight.” He will be preceded at 6:30 p.m. by The Briggs Bluesbusters, Briggs & Stratton’s nine-member house band that features six company employees, including John Shiely, chairman and CEO, as rhythm guitarist.
On Friday, The Grass Roots will kick off the fun-filled festivities at 7 p.m. by playing hits such as “Let’s Live for Today,” “Things I Should Have Said,” “Midnight Confessions,” “Temptation Eyes,” “Sooner or Later,” and “Two Divided by Love.” This platinum-selling group charted 29 Top 100 Billboard singles from 1967 to 1972 — one of only nine groups to ever do so. At 9 p.m., The Blues Brothers will take over, signaling the start of Friday night’s 4th Street Live! Street Party — also free to GIE+EXPO visitors. The Grammy Award-nominated group was founded in 1978 by Saturday Night Live comedians Dan Aykroyd and John Belushi. The band continues to perform with a rotation of guest singers and other band members.
“First-rate entertainment like Eddie Money and The Grass Roots brings a lot of fun and energy to this free event,” said GIE+EXPO Show Director Warren Sellers. “Exhibitor support makes it all possible. Thanks to Briggs & Stratton, along with Ariens and Stens, for sponsoring two great nights at 4th Street Live!”
