Perkins selects SmartEquip Network to support diesel engine customers in the rental equipment industry

Perkins announced Oct. 4 the selection of SmartEquip, Inc., to provide aftermarket support and electronic parts procurement technologies to users of Perkins engines in the rental equipment industry. The SmartEquip Network, to which Perkins U.S. and Canadian distributors and rental house end users will now have access, enables key product support activities, including electronic parts and service procurement, safety information, training, and warranty servicing.

“Access to the SmartEquip Network will give Perkins customers in the rental equipment industry access to a field-proven, user-friendly system that simplifies and accelerates part ordering by providing direct access to the Perkins Distributor Product Support Network,” said Mike Reinhart, Perkins marketing manager. “With more than 1,000 major equipment manufacturers using Perkins engines on a global basis — many of which are represented in rental fleets — the addition of SmartEquip access provides clear benefits for everyone concerned.

“Because SmartEquip technology will directly support Perkins engines in the equipment rental industry, we will be able to improve equipment uptime, service efficiency, and parts inventory efficiency for the fleet owners, while also providing direct electronic access to our own distributor network. Not only will this lower the overall cost of ownership for Perkins-powered equipment,” Reinhart added, “it will also improve the value proposition for both Perkins and the OEMs who sell into this rapidly growing market.”

Alexander Schuessler, SmartEquip’s chief executive officer, said, “We are very honored to have been selected by such a well-recognized global technology leader, and to be part of a solution that supports so many different types of users.”

SmartEquip’s industry platform enables manufacturers, distributors and equipment owners to increase asset productivity, while reducing the cost of doing business by improving transaction speed and accuracy. This increases profitability and customer satisfaction for buyers, sellers and distributors alike. Participants in the SmartEquip Network include more than 65 of brands of construction equipment, the largest national rental companies, and a growing list of the Rental Equipment Register (RER) magazine’s top-100 rental companies and independent rental companies.
