Stihl’s new 36-volt lithium-ion chain saw

Stihl’s new MSA 160 C-BQ chain saw combines innovative 36-volt lithium-ion battery technology with power and efficiency. The MSA 160 C-BQ delivers gasoline-free, zero-emission and cordless electric power, giving users another environmentally responsible option from Stihl outdoor power equipment.

Designed for environmentally conscious homeowners and professionals, the Stihl MSA 160 C-BQ has zero exhaust emissions and is ideal for noise and emission-sensitive areas like green roofs and urban environments. The chain saw can even be used for indoor projects.

“If you need a low-noise and low-emission product, the MSA 160 C-BQ is exactly the tool for you,” said Mark Chisholm, certified arborist with Aspen Tree Expert Company in New Jersey. “A lot of tree care professionals work near rooftops or in noise-sensitive areas like resorts, so to be able to work at all times with this product, is a great benefit.”

The Stihl MSA 160 C-BQ is not only portable and lightweight, but it also starts with the pull of a trigger. And with reduced vibration as compared to the gasoline-powered Stihl equivalent, this chain saw improves operator comfort; and a second chain braking system is designed to stop the chain when the trigger is released. Stihl Lithium-Ion technology reduces operating costs by eliminating the cost of fuel, and the commercial-grade high-torque electric motor requires less maintenance, resulting in a longer motor life.

Powerful enough to tackle tough landscaping tasks, the 36-volt Stihl Lithium-Ion batteries are designed for long running times with quick recharges and operate at full speed until depleted, so there is no gradual drop in power during use and no memory setting with recharges. And batteries are interchangeable, so one battery can power many tools in the Stihl Battery KombiSystem line. Stihl has partnered with the RBRC (Rechargeable Battery Recycling Corporation), and batteries can be returned for recycling at participating Stihl servicing dealers: www.call2recycle.org.
