OPE Data Spotlight: Mixed bag of dealer sentiment
Outdoor Power Equipment Magazine dealer readers are finding that their occupation as a dealership owner/operator brings a mixed bag on the sentiment level, according to the Q1 Outdoor Power Equipment Magazine Dealer Survey.
The survey, conducted in late March, represents a range of more than 100 independent servicing OPE dealerships from 30 states, with the following annual revenue breakdowns in a typical year by dealer respondent:
Less than $500,000 — 31%
$501,000-$999,000 — 24%
$1-$2 million — 15%
$2-$3 million — 12%
$4 million or more — 18%
We asked dealers on a scale of 1-10 to rate their satisfaction with being an OPE dealer at the current time, with 1 being not at all satisfied and 10 being extremely satisfied.
Two out of three surveyed dealers ranked their dealer sentiment as “6-10,” with 1 in 3 rating their March 2020 dealer sentiment as “1-5.” The average dealer sentiment rating is 7.
