Mahindra to launch new OJA tractor series
Mahindra Tractors, part of Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., has introduced “OJA” as the brand name for its new range of tractors from its K2 global tractor program.
The Mahindra OJA is the company’s new, lightweight global tractor platform, and it will focus on domestic as well as international markets including the United States, Japan and Southeast Asia, Mahindra reports. The OJA platform has been developed through close cooperation between the engineering teams of Mitsubishi Mahindra Agriculture Machinery in Japan and Mahindra Research Valley in India (the R&D center for Mahindra’s auto and farm sector).
The Mahindra OJA will have four sub-tractor platforms – subcompact, compact, small utility and large utility – and will comprise 40 models in all. The name “OJA” is derived from the Sanskrit word “Ojas,” which symbolizes vitality, energy and strength, the company notes.
“Ahead of the global premiere of the production version of our most awaited tractor program codenamed K2, we at Mahindra are pleased to announce “OJA” as the new brand name of Mahindra’s new lightweight tractor range,” says Hemant Sikka, president – farm equipment sector, Mahindra & Mahindra. “Slated for launch later this year, the OJA is Mahindra’s future-ready approach to tractorization exemplified by numerous first best-in-class technologies for improved performance and productivity, through which we aim to transform farming and enrich farmers’ lives.”
Mahindra OJA tractors will be manufactured at Mahindra’s Zaheerabad tractor facility in India, one of South Asia’s largest tractor manufacturing plants. The Zaheerabad facility also produces Mahindra’s range of Yuvo and Jivo tractors, including its Plus Series of tractors.
