NaturaLawn of America announces winners of 2024 Dan Collins Scholarship

NaturaLawn of America announced the winners of its annual Dan Collins Scholarship Award, providing three college-bound high school graduates with funds to assist with educational expenses.

  • Charles Colvin of Malvern, Pennsylvania, was announced as the first-place award recipient, receiving a $5,000 scholarship.
  • Elizabeth Low of Houston, Ohio, was selected as the award’s second-place recipient and received a $3,000 scholarship.
  • Third-place recipient Elizabeth Buohl of Middletown, Maryland, received a $2,000 scholarship award.

NaturaLawn of America established the Dan Collins Scholarship in 2017 in memory of Dan Collins, a NaturaLawn franchise owner who passed away from cancer in 2005. The scholarship named in his honor recognizes high school or undergraduate students who exhibit generosity and kindness, similar to Collins.

The 2024 selection process proved competitive with applicants from more than 25 states. To be considered for the award, applicants needed to be current high school seniors or those enrolled as full-time students in a two-year associate degree or four-year bachelor’s degree college/university program. Students also had to provide three letters of recommendation, a one-page essay explaining why they should receive this award, and a one-page essay recounting how they may use their degree and knowledge gained from their education.

“We are so pleased to assist these very deserving young adults in realizing their educational goals and easing the cost of the journey ahead of them,” said Phil Catron, president and founder of NaturaLawn of America. “We’re eager to follow their paths and are sure they will achieve great success in their future endeavors.”
