Sunseeker Lidar-equipped robotic mower to be available in January

Sunseeker showed its L3 robotic mower at a technology show in Berlin on Sept. 5. The company said the mower “sets a new benchmark for autonomous lawn care by integrating state-of-the-art Lidar navigation with intelligent AI vision, enabling centimeter-level precision mapping and flawless obstacle avoidance in complex yards.” While robotic mowers are popular in the often smaller and simpler “gardens” in Europe, the larger and often more complex yards in America have made robotic mowers more challenging to implement in a lawn-care protocol. Sunseeker hopes to change that, as do other manufacturers of robotic mowers. 

The manufacturer introduced the L3 mower and other new products earlier this summer at the Spago+Gafa 2025 garden show event in Cologne, Germany. At the recent Berlin event, Sunseeker reported that the L3 robotic mower will be available in the U.S. in January for a retail price of $999.

The new Sunseeker L3 uses a floating cutting system that adapts to varying grass density and terrain, which the company says ensuring “a consistently clean, even cut across every inch of the lawn.” The L3 eliminates the need for perimeter wires, offering homeowners a plug-and-play robotic mowing experience.

Perfect Edge Cutting for Precise Mowing

Once L3 detects the boundary between grass and non-grass areas, it will follow this boundary closely within the lawn. This mode is especially useful for uneven or complex boundaries. If needed, it can also switch to edge-reach cutting mode to achieve a more precise trim along the lawn’s edges.

3D Omnidirectional Obstacle Avoidance

Sunseeker L3 can detect and avoid the obstacles in your yard, including trees, flower beds, furniture, and even pets or toys that may suddenly appear. It ensures safe, collision-free mowing for worry-free use.

Outstanding Climbing Capability

The dual-wheel rear drive of L3 enables a maximum climbing capability of 40% / 22 degrees, ensuring more stable and smooth mowing even on slopes.
