Bad Boy acquires Mac Company, shows new loaders at dealer meeting

Bad Boy Mowers announced its acquisition of Mac Company to expand Bad Boy’s equipment offerings. The manufacturer based in West Fargo, N.D. is known for its SwingSteer loader and ProSeries attachments.

At its dealer meeting in Dallas in September, Bad Boy showed these newly branded designs of SwingSteer loaders.

Bad Boy plans to continue operation out of the Mac Company headquarters in West Fargo and will retain all current employees. Company co-founders, Peter Christianson (CEO) and Tom Lykken (Chief Engineer), will remain with the company, primarily focusing on the success of the articulated loader line of business. Bad Boy and Mac Company are working together to enhance the current SwingSteer loader and expand Bad Boy’s light construction equipment lineup.

“We’re excited to bring Mac Company into the Bad Boy family,” said Peter Ballantyne, CEO of Bad Boy. “We pride ourselves on innovative engineering, which makes this acquisition the perfect fit. We look forward to continuing to produce these best-in-class machines, now with more attitude than ever.”

The SwingSteer and ProSeries attachments are the latest in a series of Bad Boy category additions, including expansions across product lines like tractors, UTVs and handheld tools.

Mac Company was founded in 2019 by Peter Christianson and Tom Lykken. Christianson has been in the Ag & CE equipment industry for more than 40 years. He first worked with skid steers in 1973, and he operated a dealership, CI Farm Power, in Fargo North Dakota. Tom Lykken has been in product development for nearly 50 years. He was Chief Engineer at the CNH “Steiger” tractor plant during the development of tracks for CNH 4WD tractors, initially on the 9000 series tractors, and then led the development of the totally new STX tractors.
