RC Mowers secures Canoe contract, expanding access in Canada
RC Mowers has been awarded a cooperative purchasing contract through Canoe Procurement Group of Canada, expanding the company’s access to Canadian public sector buyers.
The contract allows Canadian municipalities, public agencies and nonprofit organizations to purchase the company’s autonomous and remote-controlled mowing equipment through a cooperative framework intended to shorten purchasing timelines. Public works departments across Canada are facing labor shortages, higher operating costs and safety concerns for outdoor maintenance crews, according to the company.
Canoe is a national cooperative buying group that helps public sector organizations solicit contracts while complying with local, provincial and national procurement requirements. The group pools purchasing demand among its members in an effort to simplify procurement and reduce costs.
“This partnership is a big step forward for RC Mowers as we expand across Canada and North America,” said RC Mowers CEO Michael Brandt. “Canadian municipalities are under real pressure to do more with fewer people and tighter budgets, while also keeping crews safe. Through Canoe, we’re bringing proven robotic mowing solutions to communities nationwide to help solve those challenges in a smarter way.”
Canoe works in partnership with Sourcewell, a U.S.-based cooperative purchasing organization serving public sector entities across North America. Some Sourcewell contracts are extended or jointly administered in Canada through Canoe, providing Canadian agencies access to vendors through a cooperative purchasing structure.
RC Mowers received the Canoe contract following a competitive solicitation process intended to promote transparency, value and supplier accountability. Eligible organizations can purchase equipment directly through the cooperative, a change expected to reduce procurement timelines that can stretch for months.
