PERC launches propane landscape equipment demonstration program

The Propane Education & Research Council has launched a new program allowing golf course superintendents and landscaping professionals to test propane-powered commercial equipment in real-world working conditions.

The Propane Landscape Demonstration Program offers participants the opportunity to use a propane-powered commercial mower or utility vehicle for a 10-day trial period. According to PERC, participants can operate the equipment on regular job routes, collect feedback from crews and compare performance with existing gasoline- or diesel-powered equipment.

In exchange for participating in the program, users will provide performance feedback to PERC.

Michael Newland, director of agriculture business development at PERC, said the program is intended to help operators evaluate propane-powered equipment in their own work environments.

PERC said propane-powered landscape equipment is designed to provide power and torque comparable to gasoline engines while offering potential benefits related to maintenance, emissions, operating costs and fuel logistics.

Applications for the program will be accepted through December 2026.
