Stihl Inc. unveils lithium-ion battery-powered hedge trimmer

 Stihl’s new 36-volt, lithium-ion battery-powered HSA 65 hedge trimmer is scheduled for market release in summer 2010. Not only does lithium-ion technology provide clean, quiet performance, but it affords customers another choice in professional-quality handheld outdoor power equipment for meeting their needs and preferences in addressing environmental issues, both emissions and noise, as well as operational considerations. Within the next few years, the HSA 65 hedge trimmer will be joined by four additional products that all use the same lithium-ion battery platform, making it easy to switch the battery from one product to the next throughout the line. Ultimately, two different battery sizes will be available. With this hedge trimmer and the AP 80 battery, depending on battery model and application, one could expect operational time up to 45 minutes.
