Briggs & Stratton awarded Green Professional status

Briggs & Stratton Corporation announced Feb. 17 that was recently awarded the Green Professional status under the Wisconsin Sustainable Business Council’s Green Masters Program.

The Green Professional designation is the second-highest tier in the Green Masters Program established by the Wisconsin Sustainable Business Council. Candidates are judged on a comprehensive range of sustainability issues, ranging from energy and natural resource use to education outreach and purchasing.

“Briggs & Stratton is honored to be named as a Green Professional under Wisconsin’s Sustainable Business Council’s Green Master’s Program,” said John Mourand, Briggs & Stratton’s director of corporate environmental & sustainability. “Our participation in this program is an excellent example of how Briggs & Stratton is implementing sustainability within our day-to-day operations, as well as managing our operations in a more resource-efficient manner to cut waste, energy and generate cost savings.”

Mourand added, “We see the benefits of sustainability beyond our own four walls, from engaging our employees in giving back to the communities to designing products with reduced emissions. We believe the future calls for innovative solutions, and that is why Briggs & Stratton took part in the Green Masters Program; we are committed to sustainability. Results of the Green Master’s Program will lead to great environmental benefits as well as a more successful (and sustainable) business. This is an honor for Briggs & Stratton, and we thank Tom [Eggert, director of the Wisconsin Sustainable Business Council] and his team for their leadership in promoting sustainable practices in the state of Wisconsin.”

Eggert said he is “pleased with the positive response from a large number of companies actively engaged in improving sustainable business practices, and I am confident that Briggs & Stratton will continue to pursue innovative solutions.”
