GIE+EXPO 2012 announces free concert lineup

The 2012 Green Industry & Equipment Expo (GIE+EXPO) — which will be held in conjunction with Hardscape North America (HNA) on Wednesday, Oct. 24, through Friday, Oct. 26, at Louisville’s Kentucky Exposition Center — recently announced the lineup for its free concerts to take place in downtown Louisville at 4th Street Live!

Eli Young BandLegendary rock band, Kansas, will perform Wednesday at 9 p.m., and the Eli Young Band, which recently won the 2012 Academy of Country Music Awards’ Song of the Year for “Crazy Girl,” will take the stage on Thursday night at 9.

Kansas, well-known for its multi-million-selling single, “Dust in the Wind,” has been anything but dust in the wind, topping the charts since the early 1970s after a humble start in Topeka, Kan. The band has produced eight Gold albums, three sextuple-Platinum albums and one Platinum live album. With 14 studio albums, and mega hits such as “Carry on Wayward Son,” “Dust in the Wind” and “All I Wanted,” Kansas will be a big draw for the lucky attendees at GIE+EXPO and HNA.

Attendees can don cowboy hats and boots on Thursday to hear the rising country stars in the Eli Young Band. Already in its 11th year of performing together, the Eli Young Band was started in Denton, Texas, by Mike Eli and James Young during their freshmen year of college. After four studio albums and one live album, the band has finally garnered national recognition for its hard work with its aforementioned award-winning song “Crazy Girl.”

GIE+EXPO — the ninth largest trade show in America — is debuting a new format this year. Wednesday will be Dealer Day, for dealers, retailers and distributors. Thursday and Friday will be open to all industry participants. The international trade show is sponsored by the Outdoor Power Equipment Institute, Inc. (OPEI); Professional Landcare Network (PLANET); and the Professional Grounds Management Society (PGMS). HNA will be co-located on the show floor on the same dates. HNA is produced by the Interlocking Concrete Pavement Institute and endorsed by the Brick Industry Association and the National Concrete Masonry Association.

Online registration is now open, and registrants will be eligible for outstanding prizes if they register early. Two lucky registrants will win the two grand prizes — $1,800 travel packages to the show. Each package includes a $500 gift card for expenses, a luxury hotel suite for three nights in The Galt House or Seelbach Hilton Hotel, $100 in gift cards for local restaurants, $50 for souvenirs at the Visitor Information Center, and VIP seating at both GIE+EXPO/HNA concerts.

Register before May 31 to be entered to win tickets to the NASCAR Sprint Cup races June 30, in Ft. Mitchell, Ky. The Sprint Cup features racing heavyweights like Dale Earnhardt Jr., Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson.

Additionally, GIE+EXPO’s Refer-a-Friend program will award an Apple iPad to one lucky winner. To enter, registrants must register online and send an online invitation to a friend. When that person registers, you will be eligible for the iPad drawing. The winner will be announced at the show.

Go to www.gie-expo.com to register and learn about online-registration giveaways, show updates and events. An early-bird registration fee of $10 is being offered until Sept. 9. After that, pre-registration will be $25. The onsite registration fee will be $50.

In addition to the website, information can be obtained on Facebook and by contacting Sellers Expositions at (800) 558-8767, (812) 949-9200 or info@gie-expo.com. When potential attendees and exhibitors “Like” GIE+EXPO on Facebook, they will be entered to win $1,000.
