February 2021 wholegood sales rise 25% on average

U.S. OPE dealerships saw a significant increase in wholegoods sales in February, according to data from Constellation Data Solutions, a division of Constellation Dealership Group, collected exclusively for OPE Business magazine readers. When compared to February 2020, Same Store Sales results in February 2021 show a 25% increase in wholegoods sales.

Pulling from 1,241 OPE dealerships that use Constellation’s Ideal and c-Systems and Charter DMS products, this composite data compares Same Store Sales stats from February 2021 versus February 2020.

Overall, U.S. dealerships saw a 25% increase in wholegoods sales, but the Northeast outperformed the rest of the country considerably, with Northeast dealerships reporting a 59% increase in wholegoods sales. Midwest dealers also were impressive, with 43% growth in wholegoods sales in February 2021 vs. February 2020. Dealers in the West region experienced 27% growth in wholegoods sales, with snow-stricken dealers in the South pushing through with 9% growth in wholegoods sales.

Canadian dealers also enjoyed stellar February 2021 wholegoods sales growth, seeing a 70% increase.

Percentage breakdowns of February 2021 vs. February 2020 dealership increases in wholegoods sales were as follows:

West: 64% dealers up; 36% dealers down

Midwest: 68% dealers up; 32% dealers down

Northeast: 74% dealers up; 26% dealers down

South: 51% dealers up; 49% dealers down

USA: 61% dealers up; 39% dealers down

Canada: 76% dealers up; 24% dealers down
