Briggs & Stratton to Discontinue Sale of Three Products to Mass Retailers, Closing Related Distribution Center

Briggs & Stratton will close its distribution operations in Germantown, Wisconsin effective April 1, 2002. The closure is a result of the company’s decision to discontinue the sale of a trio of products to mass retailers in the U.S. and Canada: portable generators, pressure washers and snow throwers.

“We will ship products to customers through the spring, so that these retailers can support their 2022 selling season,” says Lauren Vagnini, Briggs & Stratton’s director of communications.

“We are still evaluating the generator/pressure-washer opportunity for the dealer channel,” Vagnini continues. “Simplicity snow throwers will continue to be produced in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, and sold through OPE dealers.

“Looking forward, we will focus on our residential and commercial ride-on products, and specialty turf products sold through dealers, distributors, rental and landscape wholesale channels.”
