March 2022: Challenging Sales Numbers Across All Regions
Overall sales in March 2022 were down for dealers in the U.S. and Canada, according to the latest numbers provided by Constellation Data Solutions. In the U.S., overall sales were down 13 percent vs. 2021; in Canada, overall sales were down 19 percent vs. last year.
Every U.S region showed declines in overall dealership sales in March:
- Northeast: 3-percent decrease in overall sales in March 2022 vs. March 2021.
- West: 12-percent decrease in overall sales in March 2022.
- Midwest: 14-percent decrease in overall sales in March 2022.
- South: 15-percent decrease in overall sales in March 2022 vs. the previous year.
Wholegoods sales were down 16 percent overall in the U.S. in March vs. this same time last year. Every region showed negative numbers in wholegoods sales; the Northeast region came closest to breaking even, down 5 percent vs. 2021.
Parts sales were down 3 percent overall in the U.S. in March vs. 2021. Only the Northeast region reported positive numbers for parts sales – up 2 percent vs. 2021.
Service sales were down 6 percent overall in the U.S. in March. The Northeast and Midwest regions were both down 4 percent vs. 2021.
