Makita releases 40V Max XGT 4-gallon backpack mist blower

Makita has unveiled the new 40V Max XGT brushless 4-gallon backpack mist blower with a brushless motor delivering the power of 63cc gas-powered mist blower, but with zero emissions, reduced maintenance and none of the hassles of mixing gas.

“Makita continues to expand the XGT platform with even more specialty outdoor power equipment products with the recent release of the 40-volt max XGT 4-gallon backpack mist blower to further show how dedicated Makita is to full truck conversions with products from both the XGT and ConnectX platforms,” said Nicole Tougas, product manager, outdoor power equipment, Makita U.S.A., Inc. “The mist blower is especially unique in that it is a first in the battery-powered mist blower space, creating a new option for pest control professionals, landscapers, and other professionals looking for a battery-powered product to perform mist blowing applications.”

Commercial-grade power

The 40V max XGT brushless 4-gallon backpack mist blower is a commercial-grade sprayer for use with insecticides, herbicides, fungicides, and fertilizers with up to 46 feet of horizontal spraying range. Makita designed it for users looking to switch from gas-powered outdoor power equipment to a cordless, battery powered option.

The GMP01 features a powerful Makita-built brushless motor that provides the power equivalent to a 63cc gas-powered mist blower and features 3 speed modes that range from 13,800-25,000 RPM. The 4-gallon backpack mist blower provides up to 80 minutes of run time with (2) 40V XGT 8.0Ah batteries. Users can adjust the tool’s tube-mounted variable speed trigger between 261-505 CFM for power and run-time management.

Spraying control and longer run time

The 4-gallon backpack mist blower features a cruise control lever for desired control of spraying speed and features three spraying modes: high-spraying speed, medium-spraying speed, and low-spraying speed. An automatic battery switching system offers 2X longer run time, switching to the second battery once the first battery has been depleted.

Two nozzles serve a variety of spraying applications. The ultra low volume (ULV) nozzle (327C46) produces droplets (14-85 microns) that are ideal for fogging applications such as spraying insecticides for mosquitos, ticks, and other vector carriers. The second nozzle (327A93-1) produces droplets (22-280 microns) for a wide range of insecticide, herbicide, fungicide, and fertilizer spraying applications.

Convenience features

Convenience features include an adjustable ergonomic harness with a waist belt for operator comfort, and a rubberized soft grip that provides increased comfort on the job. For added durability in harsh job site conditions, the GMP01 features Extreme Protection Technology (XPT) for improved dust and water resistance.
