Let’s Meet at Equip Expo
The highlight for me last year at Equip Expo (my first time at the show) was meeting smart professionals who are passionate about their work. And about seeing the latest equipment and ideas in Louisville. But it’s the people for me. I can go to my local dealer and see equipment. The thing I love about trade shows is the people who attend.
If you take the time and spend the money to travel to Equip Expo – and other events – I know you’re serious about your work. I know you’re curious and motivated to be better. I like meeting with passionate people like that. (Of course, calendars collide and it’s not always possible to attend events like this, I know that too).
Last year at Equip, I got to meet Sean McLaughlin, a power equipment dealer and the CEO of Flyntlok, and Rob Reynolds, COO of Midwest Equipment and Supply. It took some texting and schedule alignment, but we connected at our display booth and got to know each other a bit. Both of these earned won Movers & Shakers awards at our business conference event later that year. I enjoyed meeting them and talking about the work they do.
Other highlights for me last year?
- Talking with pro users at an Echo social hour
- Talking with Chris Keffer from Stihl about the company’s ecommerce plans
- Talking with Honda crew outside about the autonomous prototype
- Seeing the buzz around the Wright Standers with all their technology
- An amazing steak dinner with people from Constellation software
My main goal this year is to meet more dealers, distributors, and landscape pros. I learn a great deal from all of you and it helps me be a better journalist. The OPE+ display will be a simple setup with some comfy chairs and space to talk. We’re at #8190 (search for EPG Brand Acceleration, the parent company).
I won’t be sitting there the whole time; I do need to check out the latest products and services. But we can make time to connect, I hope.
The OPE+ Power Forum event
I want to make sure you’re aware of our own upcoming event, the Power Forum. This is a business conference, not a product expo, and it’s focused on learning from topic experts and each other, while networking in small group settings over a couple days in Charlotte.
This conference starts January 20, and we’ll mix in some fun too, like a night at the NASCAR Hall of Fame near our hotel. You can find all the info on our Power Forum website. Be prepared for learning and professional growth. We all need that.
