Jacobsen expands lithium battery-powered lineup

Ransomes Jacobsen, a division of Textron Inc.introduced two new battery-powered mowers, the HR3 ELiTE rotary mower for large turf uses, and the Eclipe 2 ELiTE walking mower for golf courses. The Samsung SDI lithium battery system uses the same zero-maintenance technology in use in tens of thousands of Jacobsen mowers, Cushman utility vehicles and E-Z-GO golf cars worldwide.

The HR3 ELiTE pairs its electrically driven transaxle with electric motors for its cutting system. The low-noise floor enables operation near golfers and residential areas without causing disturbances. Jacobsen said the low noise level also enables a safer operating environment for the mower’s user.

The battery system provides more than 40 kilowatt-hours of energy and is backed by a five-year battery warranty. An onboard charger simplifies recharging and is designed for overnight use.

This mower has a cutting width of nearly 5 feet and adjustable cutting height. A high-strength steel frame with solid bumper rails protects the mower from the rigors of everyday use, and onboard diagnostics allow operators to easily monitor the mower’s performance in real time.

Compared to gas-powered models, the Eclipse 2 ELiTE reduces noise levels for bystanders by up to 60 percent, and its low noise output eliminates the need for operators to use hearing protection. Without a gas engine, this mower also reduces hand-arm vibration for operators by 40 percent, and removes the risk of harmful fluid leaks, which can cause turf damage.

The new mower features a programmable frequency-of-clip system that ensures precise cuts by dynamically adjusting reel speed based on the mower’s ground speed. The system enables operators to achieve double-cut quality in a single pass, with enhanced control and consistent performance regardless of terrain. The mower’s floating head, featuring an independent front roller, carries the weight of the mower and basket, ensuring that the cutting head is unaffected by a basket full of clippings or an inexperienced operator. Its available with 18, 22, and 26-inch cutting heads. The Eclipse 2 ELiTE offers the lowest cutting heights without scalping, even on undulating greens, and can be easily converted to verticut for added versatility.

The onboard controller allows operators to easily monitor mower performance in real time, including system voltage, reel RPM, mow speed, frequency of clip, and fault displays. The Eclipse 2 ELiTE also has fewer belts and parts than conventional gas-powered mowers to simplify service.
