PGMS March webinar

The Professional Grounds Management Society (PGMS) announced its March Webinar, “Grasses as Living Infrastructure: Practical Strategies for Resilient, Budget-Smart Landscapes “

The webinar will be held March 24, 2026, from 1-2 p.m. ET. It will be presented by David Hoffman, CEO of Hoffman Nursery, Inc., and moderated by Bill Quade, director of horticulture at the Biltmore Company.

Hoffman Nursery is a wholesale grower based in Rougemont, North Carolina, specializing in ornamental and native grasses, sedges and perennials for green infrastructure and ecological landscapes. With deep, hands-on experience across production, operations, and strategic planning, Hoffman has guided the nursery’s evolution to meet the growing demand for nature-based solutions in the built environment. He collaborates closely with landscape architects, engineers, and restoration professionals across the southeast, advancing plant-driven approaches to stormwater management, biodiversity, and climate resilience.

This presentation for PGMS members explores how ornamental grasses, sedges and rushes can move beyond decorative accents to become functional, performance-driven solutions for campuses and municipalities.

Grounded in resilient landscape principles, the webinar will examine how grasses and grass-like plants address real-world challenges including biodiversity loss, drought, extreme heat, flooding, fire, and erosion — while helping landscapes recover more quickly and function with fewer inputs. Attendees will gain practical guidance to avoid common mistakes and create landscapes that look better, perform better, and cost less over time.

The webinar is free for PGMS members and $35 for nonmembers.
