Pine Hall Brick’s Ted Corvey earns BIA Lifetime Achievement Award
The Brick Industry Association (BIA) Executive Committee announced that Ted Corvey, vice president of sales and Marketing for Pine Hall Brick Company, is the recipient of the 2026 BIA Lifetime Achievement Award.
This award honors outstanding individuals who, over a minimum of 25 years, have dedicated themselves to the advancement and betterment of the clay brick industry.
Corvey has dedicated 33 years to the clay brick industry, beginning his career in 1992. Throughout his career, he has played a vital role in advancing the industry through leadership positions, advocacy, and his forward-thinking approach.
Corvey’s time at Pine Hall Brick Company has been marked by advances in the production of clay brick pavers on two fronts.
In 1996, the company opened a state-of-the-art paver plant in Madison, NC, using technology found in only two plants in the world and applying it to pavers. The new method produced pavers that were more durable than clay pavers that had been made up to that time and were all the same size, easing installation.
The changes prompted a new level of acceptance for clay pavers within the segmental paving industry. In short order, Pine Hall Brick Company became the largest manufacturer of clay pavers in the world.
By the early 2000s, Pine Hall Brick led the way in green construction by pioneering a method of manufacturing permeable clay pavers, which when installed in a best-practices installation, enables stormwater to flow through the paver field via gaps in between the pavers. The water is then purified by being filtered naturally as it is collected in an aggregate field underneath.
In some cities that combine septic sewer and stormwater, the StormPave pavers have been specified to reduce the amount of stormwater being sent to wastewater treatment plants. Because rainwater goes through the pavement and doesn’t puddle up, StormPave™ has also been used to cut down on wintertime ice buildup in both commercial and residential applications.
Corvey is widely respected for his unwavering commitment to the brick industry and for his passion for promoting and strengthening the use of clay brick. Within the Brick Industry Association, Corvey’s long standing service reflects that commitment and influence. Over the years, he has served on and chaired numerous BIA committees and councils, most recently the Marketing, Sales & Training Committee.
In addition, Corvey has played a pivotal leadership role within Brick Southeast, where he has served on the board of directors for many years and previously served as board chair.
Corvey’s award was presented during the awards dinner at the National Clay Brick Expo on April 9, 2026, in Orlando, Florida.
