Launched in 2006, GreenCare for Troops is a volunteer-based program that provides lawn care, landscaping and snow removal services at no cost to military families with a deployed family member.

According to Project EverGreen, the program has enlisted more than 15,000 green industry volunteers, provided an estimated $20 million in donated services and assisted more than 20,000 military families in all 50 states since its inception.

As part of the anniversary year, Project EverGreen has released a video highlighting volunteers, military families and industry partners involved with the program during the past two decades.

The organization also recently launched its “You Move, We Mow” Challenge, encouraging industry professionals, companies and supporters to complete 20,000 steps from June 21-27 in recognition of the program’s 20 years of service.

Project EverGreen said it is seeking additional lawn and landscape volunteers to help meet demand from military families and has expanded services to include disabled veterans in select states.
