EKHO expands retaining wall, MSE offerings through acquisitions

EKHO Infrastructure Solutions has expanded its mechanically stabilized earth (MSE) and retaining wall portfolio through the integration of Ground Improvement Systems (GIS) and Structured Soils Inc. (SSI), along with the acquisition of the ARES retaining wall system from Tensar Corp.

The company said the additions broaden its engineering and product capabilities for transportation, rail and commercial infrastructure projects across North America.

GIS and SSI provide expertise in MSE systems, retaining wall engineering, geotechnical design and soil reinforcement. EKHO said the integration strengthens its presence in the U.S. retaining wall and earth retention market.

The ARES retaining wall system, acquired from Tensar, is a geosynthetic-reinforced MSE retaining wall system that complements EKHO’s steel-reinforced MSE offerings. According to the company, the system provides an option for projects that require geosynthetic soil reinforcement or the use of native onsite backfill.

“With 37 state approvals, the addition of the ARES product line significantly expands EKHO’s reach within the U.S. retaining wall market,” said Justin Wexler, chief operating officer of EKHO Infrastructure Solutions. “ARES holds one of the broadest approval footprints in the industry, providing EKHO immediate access to key markets where we previously did not have a geosynthetic offering, including California, Pennsylvania, New York, Ohio and Florida.”

EKHO said the combined offerings include Department of Transportation-approved geosynthetic and MSE solutions available across most U.S. states and Canada. The company manufactures noise barriers, retaining walls and precast concrete structures for transportation, energy and construction applications.
