Regional analysis of landscaping trends
Offers.com recently partnered with Houzz, a popular online platform for home remodeling and design, for more in-depth analysis of consumers throughout the nation and their plans to transform their yards and gardens this summer.
The expanded survey sampled more 1,000 U.S. homeowners who use Houzz and are in the midst of, are planning, or have recently completed a landscaping project.*
So what is trending in each region? Offers.com took a deep dive into regional trends to see what homeowners are purchasing and installing in their homes this summer.
Southern trends:
- The most sought-after upgrades for this region are new lights (46%), sprinklers (29%), security systems (22%), entertainment items (21%) and composting bins (18%).
- Homeowners in the South are most likely to want new TVs, speakers and charging stations in their yards this summer.
- Other popular outdoor living additions include furniture, string lights and ceiling fans.
- Garden beds, perennials, shrubs and new grass are the most common additions for curb appeal this year.
Western trends:
- The most sought-after upgrades for this region are sprinklers (63%), new lights (60%), entertainment items (22%), composting bins (19%) and security systems (17%).
- Other popular outdoor living additions include furniture, fire pits and string lights.
- Pathways, trees and patios/terraces are the most common additions for curb appeal this year.
Midwestern trends:
- The most sought-after upgrades for this region are new lights (43%), rainwater harvesting (18%), composting bins (16%), security systems (15%) and sprinklers (12%).
- Outdoor speakers and TVs are also desired in this region.
- Other popular outdoor living additions include furniture, fire pits and string lights.
- Garden beds, shrubs and perennials are the most common additions for curb appeal in the Midwest this year.
Northeastern trends:
- The most sought-after upgrades for this region are new lights (40%), sprinklers (22%), composting bins (20%), rainwater harvesting (14%) and security items (12%).
- New speakers, TVs and projectors top the wish list for outdoor entertainment features.
- Other popular outdoor living additions include furniture, string lights and fire pits.
- Shrubs, garden beds and perennials are the most common front yard additions this year.
