Honda begins US production of new battery-powered zero-turn lawn mowers
Honda has begun U.S. production of a new line of battery-powered, zero-turn radius riding lawn mowers at its manufacturing facility in Swepsonville, North Carolina, the company said.
The ProZision zero-turn radius mowers are Honda’s first riding mowers designed for commercial landscaping use. Production began at Honda North Carolina Manufacturing, where the company first started building walk-behind lawn mowers in 1984. The mowers are made using a mix of domestically produced and globally sourced parts and are expected to be available at specialty equipment dealers beginning in February 2026.
The Swepsonville facility, operated by Honda North Carolina Manufacturing, also produces a range of other power equipment and began building all-terrain vehicles in 2023. The site spans nearly 700,000 square feet and has produced more than 50 million products since operations began more than four decades ago.
“Everyone at Honda North Carolina Manufacturing is excited about expanding our power equipment lineup with the introduction of the new Honda ProZision ZTR lawn mower,” said Lynne Hedrick, site lead at NCM. “Our legacy of high quality and flexibility began more than 40 years ago with NCM associates building the best lawnmowers, power equipment and ATVs in the world and we are proud to continue that with this new generation Honda mower.”
The ProZision ZTR lineup includes 54-inch and 60-inch models. According to the company, the mowers are powered by five 48-volt brushless electric motors and are designed for commercial durability, operator comfort and consistent cut quality.
“Technology is transforming products across Honda, and our new battery-powered lawn mowers are no different,” said Mark Kohls, vice president of Honda Power Sports & Products at American Honda. “Our battery-powered Honda ProZision Zero-Turn Radius lawn mowers deliver zero emission, cost-effective turf care solutions for a wide variety of customers, conditions, and commercial applications.”
Honda said future production of the ProZision ZTR models will incorporate parts made in a new plastics department at the Swepsonville facility. The department is part of a $9.7 million investment announced last fall.
