Outdoor Power Equipment Market projected to reach $48.2 billion by 2030, report finds
The global outdoor power equipment market is projected to grow from $35 billion in 2024 to $48.2 billion by 2030, expanding at a compound annual growth rate of 5.48%, according to a new industry report.
The report, Outdoor Power Equipment: Global Market Outlook and 2025–2030 Forecast, attributes growth to ongoing technology innovation, advances in battery systems and increasing demand tied to residential and urban property maintenance.
Technology development remains a key driver. In 2024, Robot Mowers introduced the RM21, a fully autonomous mower designed to operate for up to five hours and maintain areas as large as 90,000 square feet across commercial and large residential properties.
Battery advancements are also shaping the market. Stanley introduced a 20V lithium-ion V20 battery platform compatible across its V20 tool lineup. In addition, EVE Energy, in partnership with MIDA, announced plans for a cylindrical lithium-ion battery manufacturing site in Kedah, Malaysia, aimed at supporting Southeast Asia’s power tool production.
Urbanization continues to expand the addressable market. The United Nations reports that 55% of the global population lives in urban areas, a figure expected to reach approximately 68% by 2050, increasing demand for efficient outdoor maintenance equipment.
Residential demand is also rising, supported by increased interest in home gardening, do-it-yourself lawn care and outdoor living. The report notes higher adoption of walk-behind mowers, robotic mowers, cordless trimmers and leaf blowers.
By segment, lawn mowers account for the largest share of the market. Growth is being driven in part by smart and autonomous models that incorporate GPS, sensors and artificial intelligence to reduce maintenance time. The mass-market category remains the most accessible for residential users and is expected to generate $7.61 billion in incremental growth.
Internal combustion engine-powered equipment continues to lead in power and runtime, though the report notes regulatory pressure related to noise and emissions. Cordless equipment is gaining share due to lower noise levels, improved energy efficiency and the absence of direct emissions.
Residential users represent the leading end-user segment, while offline retail channels continue to dominate as customers prioritize in-person product evaluation, demonstrations and expert guidance.
Regionally, North America led the market in 2024, supported by larger property sizes, ongoing infrastructure investment and strong demand for premium equipment. Europe is projected to grow at approximately 4.75% annually, driven by adoption of automation and battery-powered equipment aligned with carbon reduction policies. The Asia-Pacific region is expected to see strong growth as rising incomes in countries such as India and China increase residential demand, alongside expanded needs for maintaining sports facilities and public spaces.
